I have known Melissa for over fifteen years. I have found her to be an excellent writer, editor and illustrator. She is a great person to work with. She is easy going and insightful, often finding a depth of meaning beyond the surface of a story. I have used her services as an editor and an illustrator, and have referred her to other publishers who have also used her services.

Melissa edited my first book. I didn't really know what to expect. She made the process seamless and went above and beyond just providing great editing; she also took the time to make sure that I could ask any questions about the whole authoring process to dispel any anxiety I might be having as a new author. She has amazing attention to detail and made sure that the finished product was the best that it could be. Thanks, Melissa, for making things super easy!

Ruth Philbrick Testimonial

At 69 years of age, having written a few short stories in my spare time, I tentatively stepped into the world of self-publishing. The publisher that I approached recommended an editor named Melissa Cleeman to guide me through, what was then, completely unknown territory for me. Melissa proved to be an excellent choice. The fact that I now publicise and sell my own attractive, entertaining book is testament to her professional advice and great patience over many months.

Melissa understood my motivation to write a varied collection of enjoyable, engaging stories, some of which might help or even inspire mainly senior readers. Her goal was that we would work together to produce a book that was the best that it could possibly be. I’m so happy with the finished product, and so are those readers who’ve taken the time to give me some very pleasing feedback.

Melissa’s emails were frequent and helpful. But the first time I met her face-to-face, I sensed why I felt so comfortable with her as my editor. There’s a genuine warmth and kindness in her demeanour that she brings to the editing process. Throughout the months of working on the book together, I never once felt intimidated by her, despite my lack of experience. It just seemed that this was a team effort.

As an editor, Melissa brought all of her training and professionalism to the task. But it was her personal qualities that helped me to get to the finish line. When I struggled, it was a sense of her faith in me that spurred me on. When I changed or rewrote whole slabs of text, she patiently let me take my time until I was satisfied.

I’m pleased to be able to commend my editor, Melissa Cleeman, to any writer who would appreciate a critical assessment of their work and professional guidance toward the goal of publication. Her natural qualities of kindness and patience, along her positive encouragement are brought to any project.
